Zayna Esuo and D-urbanites: set the stage on fire

“An explosive live band that transcends boundaries and genres—Zayna Esuo and the D-Urbanites deliver pure soul with a contemporary, international flair.”

The original band was founded in 2008 by frontman and lead singer Malik Esuo (The Brix Academy, WKD, Tales of Hypeness) and jazz bassist Stijn Deldaele (Blunt, Phoenix Jazz Project, Precious Wilson). Together with keyboardist Jonas Desmet (Madame Blavatsky, Olga Jane, Keith Canvas), drummer Sam Gysel (Arno, Arsenal, Fugu Mango), Sebastian Pèna Ortiz (El Tattoo del Tigré Skala, Contrabando), and many guest artists, they set many stages ablaze with their raw acid-jazz vibes!
She performs annually at the jazz club “Bistro l'Arabe” in Marrakech, accompanied by the Black Experience Jazz Band. She began working on her own songs and came up with the idea of reviving her father’s former band, D-Urbanites.

Zayna Esuo grew up surrounded by London musicians, and it soon became clear that she would follow in her father’s footsteps. After graduating from high school at the KHB in Brussels, she completed a vocal internship at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and studied at KASK in Ghent.
